Pacers V MSS : Quick Match Report

On the wettest Wednesday since Jordan and Rob went to see ‘Marley And Me’, the Pacers claimed a narrow victory over Middlesbrough Supporters South at Pimlico Academy.
A depleted Pacer line up (Ash went to the THEATRE with his MRS!) had to bring in a couple of the MSS second string to make up the numbers, but despite early wobbles, came back well to take the match 8-7.
Dave G was the star man up top, bagging himself 4 goals, and was well supported by Laurin and Ross, who both got on the scoresheet also.  Curtis, (yes he’s still alive), made his first appearance of pre-season and capped a fine performance with a headed goal into the little nets!
Kevlar mostly stood at the back sulking after letting in 3 goals in the first 5 mins, in what can only be described as a carcrash of a spell in the nets.
Not surprisingly, we were behind all the way until the torrential rain eased a little, when we really turned it up a notch and got back into the game and eventually on top.  Lets try to end this typical fair weather Pacers hoodoo this season eh!?
Other plusses:  Good performances from 2 reserve Pacers in Tom and Kiwi Dave.  Ross didn’t drown in the puddle that threatened to engulf the pitch. He’d brought his rubber ring, thankfully.

Pacers V Pacers V Bouncers : Match Report

The Pacers’ pre-season got off to a soggy start at Battersea Park yesterday, and despite a few rusty legs and the introduction of several new players, it was a competitive and close game throughout.

The 10-a-side teams saw a mixture of ‘old’ Pacers and newbies on each side, with both teams featuring new keepers, Jamie and Dave, both of whom did well on the dreaded astro, making some good saves at both ends.

In the red’s midfield, Laurin’s voice had recovered from his belting rendition of 3 Lions at Karaoke Box on friday night, and in the centre of the blues’ defence his singing partner Maxi quickly ran off the aches and pains from weekend wrestling with the bouncer in Bedouin Bar.

Flatmates Ross and Lee lined up together for the blues, not that they’re gay or anything, while Tommy and Alex also made their first starts on the red side.  Jonny came for a run out to complete the blues defence.

Among the old guard, Ben was fresh after his date on saturday night ended at 9pm, nothing new there, and Jordan had dusted himself down after being thrown around Smithfield like a ham shank by 3 kind butchers, ahem, I mean bouncers.

Jordan opened the scoring after good work from Dave for the reds, but not before Tim had dragged a chance just wide for the blues during a spell of early pressure.

Soon after, Dave made amends for a 3 yard miss over the bar with a first half strike.  Quickly followed by a goal from Laurin.  Dominance from the reds until a couple of defensive lapses.  Kevlar, AKA The Horse Whisperer, hypnotised Kev D into a Darren-style back pass which Evans gratefully converted for the blues.  And a defensive mix-up also saw Ross profit, warmly embraced in celebration by Lee, lovely to see, that. 😉

Kevlar allowed Ash a bit of breathing space from his pocket in the second half, when the reds went down to 9, and he danced his way through the depleted defence to score a good goal.  Evans also poked one through Dave’s legs from a surprisingly onside position.

Up the other end, Jordan converted an absolute pearler of a cross from Nath at the back post, and the scoring was completed by Ben with a trademark miss-hit scuffer off his RIGHT FOOT!  It trickled over the line via a deflection.

‘Mr Pacer’ Paul ‘Sprackers’ Sprackling completed the line-ups with a typical solid performance in his Jimmy Choos.

Well done boys, sorry if I got any details wrong, it was bloody wet out there!

Pacer Tour – Biarritz 2011

Just a quick note to let you all know that the Pacers were represented in fine fashion on last weekend’s Biarritz trip.  And despite there being a low turnout (Ash, Ben, Jordan, Kevlar), we are now part of local French folklore!

Ben fainting on the flight out there!
Jordan’s Bear Grylls-style toilet habits!
Ben spitting an entire mouthful of Margarita over the table/kevlar!
The fastest man on one leg in hot pursuit of the girl who stole Ash’s “iPhone4, iPhone4, iPhone4”!
Said girl getting truly owned by Kevlar!
Jordan asking for a “Menage” in a restaurant!
Kevlar’s attempt to gain entry to the Casino with Jordan’s ID!
The second fastest man on one leg (AKA Jordan’s new boyfriend)!
Ben falling off his chair in a restaurant and joining the table next to us!
Pablo Espanol!
Ben getting us turned away from a club because his face was too red!
Sleeping in the street while Ash walked half way to Spain with the apartment keys!
